The svchost .exe (note the space) file is the process used by the Windows-based computer to open and load required files for running other applications and sometimes this file causes 100% CPU utilization. How to fix this virus malware trojan ? Unlike svchost.exe which serves as the host, svchost .exe runs in simultaneous instances (32-bit programs running on 64-bit applications), with each one hosting its own services. Windows contains volumes of files, folders and subfolders that comprise the operating system, and these require instances of actively running service hosts all at the same time.

Occasionally, after launching a program that becomes unresponsive (100% CPU utilization), this becomes an indication that an associated SVCHost is missing from the related Application folder or is in an incorrect or unsupported version. Encapsulation processes generally means hiding an object inside another object’s functionality for the purpose of direct inspection and manipulation during the runtime of the related process. Through the svchost.exe file, the Dynamic Link Library (DLL) efficiently contains and dispenses Windows system services to facilitate the Service Host’s operations. As a host file, the svchost.exe process generates instances of itself, in order to protect the multiple processes it is running. These multiple executions contribute to the security and stability of associated Windows operations by minimizing the possibility of system crashes which may cause a domino effect on related processes, which can result to an unusable machine. The svchost..exe process can be located in the C:\Windows\System32\schost.exe folder (via a command) and is usually 32,879 bytes in size.

SvcHost.exe (Regular)

The svchost.exe process, more commonly known as Service Host, is the system process that hosts essential Windows services. The svchost.exe system process implements shared multiple service processes, each one running its own set of service processes, in order to facilitate the minimized resource consumption of the Windows operating system. The service processes running in the svchost.exe process are implemented as DLLs, with each file having a Service DLL, or files in the DLL format. However, because the svchost.exe process is a common process, some malicious applications use the same file name to disguise itself, and because of this, there are reports that the svchost.exe file is a malware or a computer Worm. For instance, in Win32/Conficker, the author of the tampered svchost.exe process may have injected a .dll file into the authentic svchost.exe process. Microsoft advises users to determine the file path of a process, including its command line, in order to identify if the file running under the assumed were able to remove it.

• Reboot the computer and log in to Windows XP, Vista in safe mode. Sometimes F8 can help.
• Run the files as Administrator in this order - fix_svchost.bat, WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe and  WindowsXP-KB927891.exe.
